“Rural Life and Traditions” Annual Harvest Festival

Heifer Armenia and its partner Development Principles NGO supported the Rural Life and Traditions annual harvest festival held on 26 September in Yerevan. The festival was an opportunity for the farmers and producers to present their organic produce directly to the buyers who understand the value of the organic food coming from rural Armenia.

YES! Youth Clubs Hold Annual Forum

Development Principles NGO (DP NGO) organized the annual YES! Rural Youth Clubs forum on July 16-19, 2015. As usual, representatives from all 28 youth clubs–180 youth in all–participated in the event.

Back to Business

More than 200 rural youth have so far received business education through 20 different YES youth clubs functioning in rural communities of Armenia. Due to the knowledge and skills gained during the business classes and startup support, around 190 youth, aged between 12-17 have started their own small businesses in their communities.

Another Successful YES Action!

With "The Nature is our Home, let's Keep it Clean!" motto, DP together with 90 Yes youth Club members and teachers, organized an environmental clean-up action at lake Sevan. The action took place on the 13th of July at the Norashen Reserve of the Sevan National Park and involved the active participation of 6 YES youth clubs from the Verin Getashen, Nurnus, Khor Virap, Arpi, Areni and Getap communities.

2nd Annual Meeting of YES Youth Club Alumni

On May 21, togheter with Heifer Armenia, DP hosted the second annual Alumni Meeting of the YES Youth Clubs which function in various rural communities of Armenia. The YES Youth Clubs are based on the famous 4H methodology of youth empowerment yet the methodology is adapted to fit the Armenian context. The event hosted about 45 participants among them honorable guests such as Mr. Jason McNabb, Private Enterprise Officer at USAID Armenia, Ms. Marina Poghosyan, Deputy Team Leader for Value Chain/Competitiveness Component at USAID-EDMC project in Armenia, as well as volunteers from UNIDO Armenia participated in the meeting.

Annual Youth Forum 2012

On 10-13 of May DP together with Heifer Armenia hosted the Annual Youth Forum of 2012 involving members of the YES Youth Clubs in the "House of Writers" resort in Tsakhkadzor. The event was held under the "Empowered Youth Builds the Future of the Armenian Village" motto. The forum paied special attention to the engagement of rural youth in the social-economic life in their communities and the great results that are already realized due to the work of Youth Club members in cooperation with the Local Self Governmental authorities. Honorable guests from USAID, partner organizations as well as media representatives participated in the event.

Youth Business Fair 2011

The Youth Business Fair 2011 was organized on December 20, 2011, in the framework of DPs "Young Agriculturist Network as a Chance for Bettering Lives of Young Rural Dwellers in Armenia" project. This project is an experiential educational project co-financed by Heifer International Poland and the Polish Development Cooperation Program of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is implemented in 22 rural communities of Armenia where DP has established and successfully runs the YES rural youth clubs.

During the fair, rural youth had the opportunity to present small scale business plans which they had developed by applying the knowledge and skills gained from the YES club trainings. The presented business plans involved a wide range of creative business ideas ranging from computerized design services up to setting up pig and poultry breeding businesses.
